London Marathon- NO!

I was declined for the 2007 London Marathon.

Really, didn't make through the lottery.

I still have the opportunity to run for a charity. May look into running on behalf of RBMIND.

End of Nov Mileage

This past Sunday I did three laps of my regular Wimbledon Common route. This should have equated to about 12 miles.

It was a rainy, sloppy day and the trail was half-covered in puddles.

Finishing felt good, but I had to really press myself to step through the last mile of mud.

Middle of Nov Mileage

I did 9 miles this past Saturday at a 8:30-9:00 pace. On schedule for an 11 mile long run by month end.

I'm averaging about 15-20 miles per week.

I ran nine miles Sunday afternoon- longest so far.

Marathon Tips

Brad Feld is attempting to run a marathon in each State before his 50th birthday, and is on schedule.

Here are some of his tips.

The Bug

I think this guy has captured the feeling of the marathon bug pretty well.

Distance Goal for EOY

I’ve set a distance goal for the end of this year.

By December 31st, I’ll cover 13 miles. This will give me a good distance base for the London Marathon in April, if I am selected.

As of today, my longest run has been a 7 mile lap of Richmond Park, with the Serpentine Running Group a few weeks back.

My mileage during the week has still been pretty consistent- 12 miles with a 5-6 mile run or hike (with C on my back) on the week-end.

Warm up Tri

I signed up on Friday for the Blenhiem Tri in June. I'll do the sprint distance as a warm-up for the Oly distance in Aug.

The First Race

Did the Run London Nike 10k this morning- a beautiful day. Took place in Hyde Park.

Goal was under 45 minutes. I did it in 43:53. So that is something like just over 7 minute miles.

Felt good.

The Blenheim Tri

The Blenheim Triathlon runs in June 2007. Although registration isn't open yet, I'll sign up as a warm up for London 2007.

It's a Sprint distance: 750m swim / 19.8km bike / 5.4km run. The average time for males in 2006 was 1 hour 38 minutes.

My goal will be to finish in the top half.

Weekly Mileage

I think I'll try to keep some rough count of the miles I do each week.

So, for the week ending Sunday the 1 of October, I did 19 miles. Sunday was my long run- the longest in recent time- 7 miles with the Serpentine Running Club at Richmond (in the rain no less).

It Has Begun...

Well, I recently signed up for the London Triathlon 2007.

The Olympic distance: 1500m swim, 40km bike, and 10km run.

And I thought blogging about my training and the experience may be a way to provide some understanding to myself of the whys behind the effort.

So here goes...
